Izzo Legacy Community,
The safety, health, and well-being of the Izzo Legacy community is our top priority, and we feel it is critical to do our part in the global effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
For this reason, the 2nd annual Izzo Legacy Run/Walk/Roll will be rescheduled. The new date will be Saturday, September 12, 2020.
Since its inception, the mission of the Izzo Legacy 5K has been to unify the community around a common cause and for the purpose of charitable giving. This spirit remains strong and unity is more important than ever!
On April 18, the original race weekend, the Izzo Legacy Family Fund and Playmakers will host a food drive. Donations of non-perishable food items can be dropped off via drive-through at Playmakers (2299 W Grand River, Okemos 48864) anytime between 11-6pm either day. We hope you can join us for this Community Day of Giving! In addition, you can make a direct donation to our deserving charity partners at this link: IzzoRace.com/Race/Donate.
We encourage all community members to continue running, walking and moving! Exercise is a key component in combating illness and reducing the stress and anxiety during challenging times like this. We look forward to coming together in September to celebrate the Izzo Legacy and its focus on Spartan loyalty, family, community and charitable giving.

The Izzo family has partnered with Playmakers to host this premium experience on the campus of Michigan State University. The mission is to connect Alumni, the MSU and Mid-Michigan communities in a positive celebration of Coach Izzo's legacy. The events include a 5K Run/Walk, 5K Roll, 1 Mile Walk, Children's Races and a Virtual 5K; all events will focus on fitness, fun, family, Spartan spirit and charitable giving!
Proceeds from the 2020 Izzo Legacy Run/Walk/Roll will create an endowment for the Izzo Legacy Family Fund that will ensure charitable giving for years to come. In addition, participants can donate to select local charities through the registration process or on the donate page. Fans who donate $1,000 to one or more of the selected local charities will be acknowledged on the Donor Banner displayed at the Izzo Legacy Event.
Tom and I have certainly been blessed to be a part of this community and we feel a genuine obligation to give back to the MSU and Mid-Michigan communities that have become such a large part of our lives. One of the reasons we’ve never left Michigan State is the connection to our community.
~ Lupe Izzo
